No centring spring/damping or anything else turned on?
Checked that it's not clipping in game?
Dont know what else to suggest. Are you getting good fps in game? It certainly feels to me that 100+ fps is needed to really get things feeling at its best. vsync off of course, and pre rendered frames to 1.
I have the same settings for LFS and iRacing as well, and the X-Bow feels better than anything in either of those sims.
Not driven it there yet. I'm addicted to Imola at the moment (and i don't think I'm particularly fast tbh, still think there is lot to get out of the car.)
It really shows off the quality of the physics and has the best FFB of all the cars so far.
I just sat down and played with the setup, doing 12 lap stints, tweaking a bit, another stint. Ended up running 120 laps I gained time every stint, the car just keeps giving you more and more as you learn its handling, which is sublime.
I think this has to be one of the finest sim cars ever made.
The other lovely thing about driving for a few hours is the dynamic lighting. Starting at 8.00AM when its quite dark and just driving as it turned to full daylight really added to the immersion factor.
The more time you put into it, the more it keeps giving.
Hehe, no worries. It does look a bit odd in the vid, that's for sure. I totally understand where you're coming from.
The models are great though. When i fire up the sim i usually just sit there for a minute before driving out of the pit, just to look at the car as the camera pans around it
Honestly, it's nothing to do with the models, its just something to do with the reflections. I've just loaded up the same car in the showroom and inspected it close up from all angles and the car model is beautiful. The surfaces are perfectly smooth.
Yup, I agree completely. I was generalising on the work that comes from these guys or their studios as a whole.
"I'd be really surprised if iracing for example was truly limited by the physics engine and not the data."
Whilst you may be correct, there is something inherent in everything DK has produced. From GPL up to the latest build of iRacing they all have the same "icy" feeling for want of a better description, and the cars always seem to be lacking a sense of mass and inertia. (and it isn't just the tyres, as they have obviously progressed a massive amount since the GPL days)
If you blind tested me on 20 different sims i could tell you within seconds which ones were DK's. That cant simply be a data issue.
Yeah, Aris has managed to reproduce a bug that seems to be affecting a few cars including the E30. Expect a fix soon
As for the 49, just raise the power diff setting and lower the coast and preload.
I'm on 45/0/0 which is much better turn in, but it's a lot more wild exiting corners. Lots more fun but nowhere near as safe as default. Experiment a bit to see what suits your style. I've not changed anything else yet..
Yup, I agree that they really aren't so different once you set up the AC version properly. The AC version just has that bit of extra grip and connected to the road feeling that all their cars have (and rightly so)
I like a lot about iRacing, but DK's physics have been weird in every sim he's ever made. iRacing is certainly getting a better feel in a lot of it's cars now, but it's taken forever to get to where they are, and where they are is still a long way off AC.
